Quick picks
Each pick is the entry product for its brand's system. Ranked on how much of a garage the ecosystem covers, then on how much of it the brand publishes.

“Garage organization system” is what people search for when they have stopped shopping for a product and started shopping for a brand. It is the right instinct: a wall where the hooks, the panels and the cabinets come from one range needs no adapters, no compatibility guesswork and no second set of accessories. It is also a commitment, and the brands know it, which is why the question deserves a ranking rather than a catalog.
How this was judged
Coverage first. A system is scored on how many of the five things a garage needs it supplies from one range: a wall surface, hooks and baskets, cabinets, shelving, and a bench. A brand that covers all five ranks above one that covers two, because the whole point of a system is not having to leave it.
Disclosure second. Within that, the brand that publishes more about what it sells — gauge, per-class capacity, fixings, load distance — ranks above one that publishes less. This is where the most complete system on the page loses ground to a cabinet-led one, and the ranking says so.
What each brand supplies from its own range, per the products covered on this site. A dash means the brand does not sell it, or we have not covered it.
| System | Wall | Hooks | Cabinets | Shelving | Bench |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Panel + track | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| NewAge | — | — | Yes, gauge published | — | Worktop in sets |
| Rubbermaid FastTrack | Rail | Yes | — | Rail shelves | — |
| Proslat | Panel | Yes | — | — | — |
The table is deliberately limited to what this site has covered from each brand, which is why NewAge and Proslat show dashes in columns where they may sell products we have not compared. It is a coverage table of the ecosystem as documented here, not a claim about each brand’s full catalog.
5 of 5
Gladiator is the only brand covered on this site that supplies a wall surface, hooks, cabinets, shelving and a bench from one range, with the cabinets bolting to the wall with a bracket kit. That completeness is the whole argument for it, and the ranking rewards it while noting what it does not publish.
Gladiator 4' GearTrack Channels (2-Pack)

Rated 75 lb per LINEAR foot while Gladiator's own GearWall is rated 50 lb per SQUARE foot. Convert the channel's 6 inch height and the rail works out at roughly 150 lb per square foot of wall it occupies — three times the panel, from the same brand, hidden entirely by the change of unit.
- Load distance:
- not stated by the manufacturer, so treat the figure as a flat-against-the-wall number
- Fastening:
- Bare wood studs, or drywall over wood studs
Published as 'Holds up to 75 lbs. per linear foot' — a different unit from the GearWall panel sold alongside it.

- Highest normalized capacity of any Gladiator wall product
- Mounting substrate is stated: bare studs or drywall over studs
- Shares the Gladiator accessory range with GearWall
- Rated in a unit that cannot be compared to anything else without converting it
- Covers a 6 inch band of wall, not a full panel field
Gladiator is the only brand here that covers all five: GearWall panels and GearTrack channels, the largest first-party hook and basket range in the category, cabinets that bolt to the wall with a bracket kit, welded shelving at 2,000 lb a shelf, and hardwood benches. Commit to it and you never have to check whether something fits.
What it does not do is publish a steel gauge on anything, and its two wall products are rated in units that hide a threefold gap between them. GearTrack is the entry point because it is the strongest thing Gladiator sells for a wall on published figures, and because the rail, not the panel, is where the ecosystem is at its best. The cabinets are compared in the Gladiator cabinet review.
NewAge Bold Series Garage Cabinet Set

The cabinet range that publishes the most. NewAge states 24-gauge steel and fully-welded construction on the product page, plus per-cabinet and per-shelf capacities. Gladiator, its closest rival, publishes no gauge at all — and gauge is the single number that separates a cabinet that stays square from one that racks.
- Load distance:
- not stated by the manufacturer, so treat the figure as a flat-against-the-wall number

- Publishes steel gauge, which its main competitor does not
- Ships fully welded, so there is no assembly-square to get wrong
- 200 lb adjustable shelves against Gladiator's 75 lb
- 18 inch depth is shallow for larger power tools — the XL range is 24 inch
- Welded cabinets are heavy and awkward to move once placed
NewAge covers less of the garage on this site — cabinets and the worktops that come in the larger sets — and publishes more about it than anyone: 24-gauge welded steel, 20-gauge shelves on Bold XL, and a separate capacity for lockers, base cabinets, wall cabinets and shelves. If knowing what you bought is the point of buying a system, this is the one.
It is a cabinet-led system rather than a wall-led one, which means the hooks and the panel field come from somewhere else, and a welded set arrives rigid and heavy. Check the route in before ordering. The class structure is explained in garage cabinet systems.
Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage Rail

The largest published number on this site and the least useful one. Rubbermaid rates the 48 inch rail at 1,750 lb into studs, then rates the hooks that hang on it at 25 to 50 lb each. You will meet the hook limit roughly thirty-five times before you meet the rail limit once.
- Load distance:
- not stated by the manufacturer, so treat the figure as a flat-against-the-wall number
- Fastening:
- Into wall studs at 16" or 24" spacing; the rail must begin and end on a stud
Published as up to 1,750 lb for the 48 inch rail when properly installed into studs. The install guide warns against relying on drywall anchors for heavy loads.

- States the stud spacing it supports and that the rail must begin and end on a stud
- Warns explicitly against relying on drywall anchors for heavy loads
- Sold everywhere, so accessories are easy to add one at a time
- A rail occupies a few inches of wall rather than a whole panel field
- The headline 1,750 lb rail rating is unreachable through 25-50 lb hooks
- No load distance published for any accessory
- Hooks are the whole system; the rail on its own stores nothing
- Accessory range is narrower than Gladiator's
A rail, and everything that hangs on it: hooks, baskets, bike racks, rail shelves. For a garage whose problem is things on the floor rather than things without doors, that is a complete system in one afternoon at the lowest cost per foot of wall of anything here.
It is complete only in that narrow sense. There are no cabinets and no panel field, the accessory range is smaller than Gladiator’s, and the 1,750 lb rail rating is reached through hooks rated at 25 to 50 lb. Rubbermaid does publish the fixing rules clearly, which counts for a lot on a system that is four screws into studs.
Proslat PVC Slatwall Panels

The default PVC slatwall, and the one whose documentation actually tells you how to hit the rating: 1-1/2 inch #8 pan head screws into studs at 16 inch spacing. The 75 lb per square foot figure is published without a load distance, so treat it as a flat-against-the-wall number.
- Load distance:
- not stated by the manufacturer, so treat the figure as a flat-against-the-wall number
- Fastening:
- 1-1/2" #8 pan head screws, studs at 16" spacing
Proslat states the fastener and the stud spacing, which most of this category does not. It does not state a load distance.

- Publishes the fastener spec and stud spacing its rating assumes
- Hidden-screw design, so the finished wall has no visible fixings
- PVC does not care about garage humidity the way MDF slatwall does
- 75 lb/sq ft is the lowest published rating of the PVC systems here
- No load distance published, so bracket-mounted shelving is unquantified
If the system you want is a wall of continuous hook placement, Proslat publishes 75 lb per square foot, names the fastener and the stud spacing that figure assumes, and puts the screws and dowels in the box. On the panel itself it is better documented than Gladiator’s.
It is a wall system, not a garage system: cabinets, shelving and benches come from elsewhere, and the one-year warranty is short against storeWALL and Trusscore. Pair it with NewAge cabinets and you have the best documented garage on this page, from two brands rather than one.

The lowest published panel rating in this comparison at 50 lb per square foot, which is easy to miss because Gladiator rates its own GearTrack rail in a completely different unit on an adjacent page. Buy it for the accessory ecosystem, not for the load number.

- 50 lb/sq ft is the lowest published panel rating in this comparison
- Neither a load distance nor a stud spacing is published
The panel half of the most complete system, and its weakest published figure: 50 lb per square foot, the lowest panel rating on this site, with no load distance and no stud spacing stated. Buying the Gladiator system does not oblige you to buy its panel, and on the numbers you should not.
Use GearTrack for the rail, Gladiator cabinets and shelving for the floor, and either skip the panel field or buy a better-rated one from a brand whose hooks you are prepared to keep separate. The full comparison is in the Gladiator wall system review.
One brand or two
- You want hooks, panels and cabinets that fit without adapters
- The garage has to look like one system as well as work like one
- You will add to it over years and want spares to match
- Gladiator's coverage is worth more to you than NewAge's disclosure
- A published steel gauge is what decides the cabinets - only NewAge gives one
- The best panel and the best cabinets come from different brands
- You are prepared to keep two hook systems separate
- Budget puts the wall in one bracket and the cabinets in another
For most garages the honest answer is two brands: a wall system chosen on its published rating and fixings, and cabinets chosen on their published construction, with the accessories kept to whichever wall you bought. The wall half of that decision is ranked in best garage wall systems, the cabinet half in best garage cabinets, and what has to stay reachable once it is all on the wall is in the wall layout guide.
