It is an expensive way to buy storage, the 18 inch depth is shallower than the XL range and than some Gladiator cabinets, and a welded set is a committing purchase — it does not flat-pack into a car or up a staircase, and it is priced per set rather than per cabinet.

Four hundred pounds per full-width shelf and 2,000 lb for the unit, in a 36 by 84 by 24 inch welded cabinet with a retailer-published 18-gauge construction figure — the thickest steel figure published anywhere in this comparison. One of these does the work of two shallower cabinets.

The gauge comes from a retail listing rather than Gladiator’s own page, which is a weaker source than NewAge’s first-party figure, and we cannot deep-link a live listing for it today, so the buy button runs a search. It is also not compatible with the caster kit, so it stands where you put it.

Twenty-four inches deep with 20-gauge shelves under a 24-gauge welded frame, published at 250 lb per shelf and 700 lb per base cabinet. The extra depth is what makes a cabinet run usable for cased power tools and bulky gear rather than just consumables, and the shelf gauge is a genuine upgrade over the standard Bold range.

It is the most expensive thing on this page by a wide margin, 24 inches of depth is a real cost in a narrow garage, and the capacity premium over the standard Bold series is 50 lb a shelf — which is not why anyone should be paying the difference. Buy it for the depth.
